Brief Review: Saint’s Row IV

Brief, I say, because I haven’t finished the game. And I probably never will.

Now, now. Don’t get me wrong. Saint’s Row IV is fantastic in many aspects, and it certainly is a lot of fun to play. There are a bunch of things to do and characters are so customizable you’d think that you were playing the Sims. There are a lot of little easter eggs and amusing little references to other games, too. (Yes, you can don a minecraft – style getup.)

However, the game’s energy is also its weakness. It gets tiring to play, and most of the time the mini-games are the only things that keep the whole thing going. Quests are made from bundling up said mini-games over and over. Combat is repetitive, and the notoriety thingymajiggy can get annoying after a while. Having to chase a golden ball every time you commit a crime is a bit tiring, no?

I’ll keep this short and simple. Saint’s Row IV is an awesome way to waste your time, but after a while you’ll wanna switch over to other games because honestly, sometimes it feels like a really well done casual game with lots of variety (think a really hardcore diner dash or something), and not much of a hardcore title. Note that I said well done, and yes, for the last time, it is very fun.

Overall, yes, I’d recommend this game, but don’t say I didn’t warn you that it can get a bit old.

I’d give it a 7/10.

Cheers.
